The expo would be held in March during National Women’s History Month on a Saturday afternoon at Cartwright and would bring together many different campus resources. The workshops would be in 2 sections: 20 minute presentations (America’s Best Karate Education – for example – would give a 20 minute free demonstration of basic self defense moves.); 30-45 minute presentation from a motivational speaker to promote consciousness raising and self-discovery and encourage self-worth and self-esteem. Vickie envisions the expo as an annual event with a different focus each year. Co-sponsors include Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Department, ALANNA, OCW, and Office of Residence Life. The expo would cost $2850.00. Dr. Miyamoto has already given his support and encouraged Vickie to spread the word to other groups on campus. Vickie can be reached at sanchez.vict@students.uwlax.edu.
