1. Honors / Scholarships / Fundraising (Maureen/Sharie)
2008/2009 OCW Scholarship Winners
The following women are winners of the 2008-2009 Jean L. Foss and Norene A. Smith OCW
Scholarship. OCW divided the $6325 award between four very deserving UW-L female students.

2. Newsletter / Directory (Bev) – Bev asked if anyone is interested in taking over the
newsletter. Michele asked about creating flyers for the OCW picnic. Becky has the flyer from
last year and will update. Galadriel will work with Michele to get an email sent to all women on
campus. The picnic is Thursday, May 15th. Michele passed around a sign-up sheet and steering
committee members signed up for food and beverages. We will look at getting OCW funding for
meat and paper products. Set-up can be anytime after 3. Time for the picnic is 4:30-6:00.
3. OCW Symposium (Diane/Deb Hanson)
Meeting for next year’s planning will be held towards the end of May per Deb Hanson.
Antoiwana suggested increasing dues in order to have more money for the OCW Symposium.
Also, we should try to pull from our campus expertise for speakers.
4. Program Committee (Becky/Jara)
OCW Book Club (Jaralee) - Our next book will be Snowflower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.
Possibly next will be Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy. For next fall many
on campus will be reading Funny in Farsi: A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America by
Firoozeh Dumas; OCW will also read. Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult is another recommendation for
next year.
5. Social Committee (Michele Strange)
Planning continues for the picnic on May 15, 2008, in Myrick Park. We reviewed plans for the
picnic during the discussion above about the next newsletter.
6. YWCA Tribute (Susan Butterfield) – Susan was not at the meeting, but planning for next fall
in the works.
7. Website (Galadriel) –Chilton will change over the site to the UWL template over the summer.

Identify the steering committee chairs and send out ballots for those positions which are
vacant, i.e., representative. (Items/vacancies for discussion are hi-lighted in red below).
Diane is working on sending out the ballots/requests for people to chair a committee if a
vacancy occurs or to be a representative.
