How to get to Karlsruhe and the Hotel
1. Flying to Frankfurt
(FRA, International Airport,

2. From the Airport: Take the train from airport’s long-distance train station to Karlsruhe
central station (travel time is 1 hour)
 Direct service at two hourly intervals on Sunday, 12th June: 13:53, 15:53, 17:53.
(ICE in the direction of Basel SBB)
 With change in Mannheim: 12:53, 14:53, 16:53…
(ICE in the direction of München (Munich), change in Mannheim, ICE in the direction
of Interlaken, when changing trains, the connecting train is on the same platform on
the opposite track)
 You can buy tickets at the ticket machine inside the terminal building. Credit card
payment is possible. The price is 40 €.
 You can check departure times online at: http://www.bahn.de/p_en/view/index.shtml.
You ride from „Frankfurt (M) Flughafen Fernbf.“ to „Karlsruhe Hbf.“

 You can also buy tickets online and print them at home or use a “Handy-Ticket” (on
your mobile).
Make sure you buy the “Flexrate”: So you are train- independent and you can take
any train on this route. Don’t buy any “Saving fares” – here you need to take the exact
train.

 Take a cab – they are located in front of the train station (turn left after leaving the
building): Your destination is “ACHAT Plaza Hotel, Mendelssohnplatz“. Usually they
don’t accept credit cards, so you should be prepared to pay with cash. Price should
be max. 10€.
 Via tram: Leave the building, the tram station (“Hbf Vorplatz”) is located in front of
you, take the tram to “Rüppurer Tor”, the hotel is located opposite to the station. You
can take number S1, S11, S4, S41, S5, 4.
o You can buy tickets at the ticket machine at the station.
Single journey is 2,40 € - credit card payment is possible.
o When arriving by train with the ICE, a ticket for local transport on the day of
arrival is included (printed on your ticket “+City”)

How to get to the reception location on Sunday, June 12
The dinner location is not far away, you can reach the “Vogelbräu” with a short walk (approx.
6 minutes)


Leave the hotel to the left, cross the road diagonal
Follow the street “Kapellenstraße, the Vogelbräu is located on the left side.
How to get to the conference site on Monday, June 13
The conference is located at:

of the KIT

It’s in 20 Minutes walking distance from the hotel. We will provide further information about
that soon. Of course we will offer a possibility for disabled or handicapped.

How to buy a ticket for local tram service
At first: If possible, try to change the language by touching the German flag you can see on
the left side. Unfortunately it doesn’t work on many ticket machines.
So if this doesn’t work please try the following steps to buy a single journey for 2,40€.
1. Push the button “Einzelfahrkarte” on the left
2. Push the “+ Anzahl Erwachsene” to select the number of tickets you want to buy, so
the display shows to you the number of tickets you selected and how much you have
to pay; for one ticket it’s 2,40€
3. Push the red button “Bezahlen” on the right side and pay the tickets
4. Pay with cash or Visa card
