Position: Food Production Assistant (87.5% Appointment)
Department: Dining and Summer Conferences
Classification: Food Production Assistant (84800)
Pay Range: Schedule 03, Range 12
Work Location: Debot Dining Center
Shift: Variable will include nights and weekends
Supervisor: Karen Witkowski, Lower DeBot Manager, Dining and Summer Conferences
Position Description: Under general supervision, this position reports to the DeBot Food Service Retail
Manager. This Lead position ensures that dining standards are attained so customers have an enjoyable
dining experience in the Lower DeBot Retail Dining operation. Among the standards are efficient,
courteous service, proper sanitation procedures, proper use and care of equipment, and the production of
quality, wholesome, and properly prepared foods according to standardized menus and recipes. These
standards are maintained through a corps of student employees and cooks who receive training and
leadership from this position. This position will assist the Executive Chef and the DeBot Food Service
Retail Manager in coordinating and leading the production activity of 4-15 employees on any one shift. The
ability to work alternate hours as needed, including weekends is required. Dining and Summer Conferences
is a unit under the Student Affairs Division of campus and is closely linked with the University Centers and

Qualifications:
Required:
- Knowledge of efficient and safe use of food service equipment
- Knowledge of food production methods and procedures
- Knowledge of weights and measures
- Thorough knowledge of food products and quality standards for food
- Knowledge of and experience with cash handling procedures
- Knowledge of and experience with tools and equipment used in food preparation and service.
- Knowledge of basic safety principles
- Knowledge of sanitation techniques
- Ability to instruct, train and lead a diverse group of student employees with varying degrees of culinary
talent
- Ability to work cooperatively with all staff members and the larger university community
- Ability to independently coordinate and guide preparation activities on a large scale for a diverse group of
employees
- Proficient computer skills—Microsoft Office applications
- Successful completion of ServSafe within 3 months of hire
Preferred:
- Minimum one year experience in a lead supervisor role in a food service operation
- Experience in a university food service operation
- Experience with computer menu management software
Appointment Date: June 3, 2016 or shortly thereafter
Terms of Employment: This is a permanent 87.5% University Staff position. This position will be
required to serve a six-month probation period. Extended hours may be necessary based on department
work load. Evening, Weekend and Holiday hours will be required. Ability to lift 20 pounds on a regular
basis. Valid Driver’s License, and ability to drive a state vehicle/box truck.
