The successful candidate will also coordinate with on-campus faculty and staff in the use of Schmeeckle Reserve lands in support of College of Natural Resources (CNR) and University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) credit and non-credit offerings. Instruct CNR Environmental Interpretation courses. Coordinate with CNR representative to the UWSP Development Office in support of Schmeeckle fund-raising initiatives. Department/University Description: Schmeeckle Reserve is a 280-acre natural area located on the UW-Stevens Point campus and administered by the university. Its mission is to protect and restore ecological communities, serve as an outdoor laboratory for classes and research, and provide recreational opportunities for residents. Visitation is estimated at 125,000 people annually. The Reserve encompasses over five miles of trails and boardwalks, a 24-acre lake, and forest, wetland, stream, and prairie habitats. A visitor center, open seven days a week, houses an information desk, exhibits, a gift shop, a cedar sign business, a meeting room, and the Wisconsin Conservation Hall of Fame. It is also the headquarters of the Green Circle Trail, a 26-mile hiking and biking path. Schmeeckle Reserve hires a large student crew (40-50 employees each semester) to maintain trails and facilities, conduct land management projects, and operate the visitor center. Interpretive programming and special events reach nearly 5,000 community members annually. Professional staff provide interpretive consulting services to agencies and organizations nationally. Schmeeckle Reserve is a field station of the College of Natural Resources (CNR), one of the largest comprehensive natural resources undergraduate programs in North America. The CNR has approximately 1,700 undergraduates , 60 graduate students, and over 130 faculty and staff. The College supports undergraduate natural resource programs with disciplines in Human Dimensions of Natural Resource Management , Fisheries and Water Resources, Forestry, Soil and Waste Resources, Wildlife Ecology, and the Department of Paper Science and Engineering.
