Here we will identify the nodes in each of the following circuits.
A node is a connection point between two or more circuit elements.
If we highlight the wire beginning at one terminal and ending at another, we see that the
top portion of the circuit is as node.
Do the same thing for the other terminal of the source. You’ll find a second node at the
bottom of the circuit.
Look at the second circuit.
We pick a resistor and see how many places it connects with other elements.
The highlighted areas identify two distinct nodes.
Look at a bigger circuit.
Some beginners think that a node is shown by the “solder dot” symbol; this would make
some believe that there are only 2 nodes in the circuit.
Remember that a node is the connection between circuit elements, whether or not a solder
dot is shown.
