THE TEAM OF '95
The Stevens Point Normal hns, the present year. had
the privilege of introducing to the various parts of tho
stntc, a football team well worthy the name both ''"
regards victories a nd clean playing. It is thc tirstyear
· that this school has r eally entered the s1iiri t of football;
~I though last year the feeling wo.s )_Jl.thc air. and showed
Itself in a game played with Lawrence University of
Appleton .. This game. although a defoar, was closely
J>laycd, and laid the foundation for the success of the
present year.
Practice was commenced abou t the middle of Scptcm·
her. but few of the old team harl returned, ancl it was
rather a difficult piece of business for those re·w who
understood the game, to handle and shape the green
matedaJ .
The difficulty wo.s finally overcome by sending for
Raycroft of the University of Chicago. who is a master in
coaching and arranging new material : and his ability,
coupled with the willingness and eagerness of the men,
succeeded in making a very promising start for the
