Learn how the virtual desktop environment works and how the same computer classroom/lab Windows 7 desktop and software applications can be utilized on or offcampus using your computer or mobile device with a fast Internet connection. UW-La Crosse has made major improvements to its video conferencing services. To make video conferencing as ubiquitous as picking up the telephone, Cisco Jabber is now available to faculty and staff. This desktop videoconferencing solution is similar to Skype but it is standards-based -- meaning it is compatible with and compares in quality to the equipment in our distance learning classrooms. Bring your laptop or iPad to this session. Become a Jabber Junkie! In the second half-hour of this session you will learn about pilot project to test and explore the My Mediasite module for computer desktop capture and video upload and management. This tool can empower faculty, staff or students to create and share video, lectures, training modules or assignments wherever they are. My Mediasite is a friendly launch pad for users to record, upload, manage and publish their own video content. It could be a key element to "flipping the classroom!"
