APPLICATION
MISSION
It is the mission of the Alabama A&M University Honors Program to recruit and retain academically talented
scholars and develop them into extraordinary citizens who achieve successful careers and impact their
environment through exemplary leadership and service.
VISION
It is the vision of the Alabama A&M University Honors Program to be recognized as a first-rate Honors
Program that readily attracts and retains the best and brightest students on a local, national, and global level.
OVERVIEW
The Honors Program offers unique opportunities for students (both traditional and non-traditional) to enrich
their college experience and to make a special contribution to the campus environment. The program provides
innovative curriculum through several designated honors courses, professional development, and leadership
training. Most program participants are leaders on campus and servants to the public, and they are also
encouraged to be active members of other student-led organizations. Additionally, all members are required to
complete a minimum of ten (10) service hours per semester (20 annually) and attend three (3) cultural events
each semester. Through fireside chats with professors, university symposiums and panel discussions, students
are inspired to reach their intellectual and academic potential.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
At the time of application, it is expected that interested students:

Are currently enrolled or plan to attend Alabama A&M University

Have maintained a 3.30 cumulative high school/college GPA. Rounded averages are not accepted (for
example: 3.28 cannot be rounded to 3.3).

Have a score of 23 or higher on the ACT or score of 1590 or better on the SAT.

Have completed no more than 46 college credit hours and have three years remaining until graduation.

Upon review of your application packet and confirmation that you meet ALL of the requirements, you will be
asked to participate in an interview.
