B.DescriptionoftheProgram1.Describewhytheminor/concentration/emphasisisbeingproposed andwhatevidencethereisfordemandforthisprogram. Thenewminorisbeingproposedforthreereasons.First,theproposallowersthenumberof creditstomaketheminormoreattractivetostudents.Rightnowthereareanumberofstudentsthat wouldbeinterestedinthenewminor,butbecauseofthecreditloadchoosetoselecttheProgram Optioninstead.Weanticipatethatthisoptionwillbringmorestudentstotheminorwiththepotential ofincreasingthemajor.Thiswillalsoallowastudentto“pickup”artasasecondminoraswell.Second, theframeworkoftheclassallowsastudenttochooseclassesacrossdifferentdisciplinesandremoves therequirementof2Dand3D.Whilestudentscanstilltakeclassesthatallowthemtoselecta particularstudio,thisoptionwillallowstudentstoselectclassesacrossdifferentstudiosthusmakingfor astrongeroverallbalanceofknowledgeandskills.Finally,astudentwillbegiventheoptionofhowthey wanttostructuretheminorinrelationtowhatheorsheisdoingwiththemajor.Forexample,ifa studentisinpsychologyandselectsaminorinarttohopefullybecomeanarttherapist.Itwouldbein his/herbestinteresttoselectclassesacross2Dand3Dstudios. 2.Describehowtheminor/concentration/emphasisfitsintotheinstitutionalprogramarray,including possiblepositiveandnegativeimpactsoftheminor/concentration/emphasisonexistingprograms. Thisoptionisseenasalogicalwaytoproceedwithinthecurrentdepartmentarrayofclasses. Thepositiveelementshavebeenarticulatedabove(e.g.,recruitment,flexibility).Apotentialnegativeof thisoptionwouldbeforthestudentthatwantsthe2Dor3Doption.Whilenotspecificallynamedas2D or3D,thestudentcanstillselectthoseclassesthatwouldfulfillthatconcentration.Oncethisminoris approved,thedepartmentwillmovetoeliminatethe2Dand3Doption. 3.Ifapplicable,describethecollaborativenatureoftheminor/concentration/emphasis.
