Brownfield, MO 07-17-06 Agricultural agents to honor Harl by Jerry Passer Neil Harl, Charles F. Curtis Distinguished Professor in Agriculture and emeritus professor of economics at Iowa State University (ISU) will be honored by the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACCA). Harl will receive the Service to American/World Agricultural award at the agent’s annual meeting July 27th in Cincinnati, Ohio. The award recognizes those who have made major contributions to American and International Agriculture and is recognized for those contributions by peers and the general public. A team of county agricultural specialist from Iowa who are NACAA members nominated Harl. During his career, Harl has served on several federal advisory groups since 1967, most recently the Commission on Federal Payment Limitations in Agriculture. Harl has received more than 30 major awards during his distinguished career including the Presidential Service Award from Iowa State University, 2002. Harl joined ISU’s economic faculty in 1964. He writes extensively on agricultural law and tax matters and is author of several agricultural law books. From 1990 to 2004, Harl directed the center for International Agricultural Finance at ISU. He earned bachelor and doctorate degrees from ISU in economics and a law degree from the University of Iowa.
