The Hawk Eye
According to Just Eliminate Lies, tobacco kills more people in one year than
alcohol, AIDS, car accidents, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined, and
that's just one fact the teen group knows.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, JEL members from Mediapolis and Burlington high
schools will share information on tobacco during a Student Leaders of
Aggressive Tobacco Education program in Crapo Park. The mini–presentations
will be in the large shelter house by Lake Starker.
Need help quitting? Want to know what is actually in a cigarette? How about
secondhand smoke? JEL members have the answers, said Dawn Dunnegan,
life skills program coordinator with the Iowa State University Extension
Center.
