Iowa City Press-Citizen, IA 05-04-06 Faculty diversity at all-time high By Gregg Hennigan Iowa City Press-Citizen CEDAR FALLS -- The number of tenure-eligible minority and female faculty members at Iowa’s public universities is at an all-time high, according to an Iowa state Board of Regents report. Out of the 3,641 tenure-eligible faculty members at the University of Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa that in 2005-2006, 540 were minorities. Of that number, 233 are at UI. Women accounted for 1,096 of tenure-eligible faculty, with 478 of them at UI. Tenure is a contractual employment status under which faculty appointments are continued indefinitely.
