TRANSFER GUIDE: MADISON AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE TO COLLEGE OF NATURAL RESOURCES UW - STEVENS POINT The following is a list of recommended courses for students who want to begin their college career at MATC – Madison and then transfer to the College of Natural Resources (CNR) at UWSP. NOTE: All CNR majors require four introductory natural resource courses (Natural Resources 150, 151, 250 and 251), that may not be offered at other schools. These four courses are prerequisites for the CNR Summer Field Experience (SFE) requirement, which is normally taken after the sophomore year since this Experience is a prerequisite for most upper level courses. It is recommended that you transfer to UWSP after completing one year at MATC, especially if you are majoring in forestry, soils and water resources. *Consult the UWSP catalog to review specific requirements for the various CNR majors. http://www.uwsp.edu/AcadAff/Pages/resources/catalog.aspx TIS = Transfer Information System – www.uwsa.edu/tis MATC CLASS WRITTEN/ORAL COMMUNICATION COMMSK 801-201 COMMSK 801-202 COMMSK 801-198 QUANTATIVE LITERACY (depends on math placement) MATH 804-195, 197, 201 OR 203* MATH 804-189, 240 OR 241* MATH 804-198 OR 221* WELLNESS (1 credit required) PHYED ARTS (3 credits) Art, Communication HUMANITIES (3 credits) English & American Literature, Philosophy, Music… HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES (3 credits) HIST 803–211/177 HIST 803–220/221 HIST 803–227/228 SOCIAL SCIENCE (6 credits)* NATSCI 806-280* Geography, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Psychology NATURAL SCIENCE (6 credits) NATSCI 806-215+217* NATSCI 806-105 OR 203+205* NATSCI 806-114* NATSCI 806-111,199,200 OR 201* NATSCI 806-112, 209 OR 211* NATSCI 806-210 OR 212* UWSP CLASS COURSE TITLE GDR CREDITS English 101 English 202 Comm 101 Freshman English Freshman English Public Speaking WC WO OC 3 3 3 Math 100 Math 355 Math 111 College Algebra Statistics Applied Calculus QL QL 3 4 4 Various Wellness classes Check TIS for transfer courses WELL 1 Various Check TIS for transfer courses ARTS 3 Various Check TIS for transfer courses HU 3 Hist 176 Hist 256/257 HP HP 3 3 Hist 101 US History to 1865/since 1865 European History to 1500/since 1500 World History to 1500/since 1500 HP& GA 3 NRES 150 Various People, Resources & the Biosphere Check TIS for transfer courses SS & ER SS 3 3 Bio 130 Bio 160 Bio 101 Chem 101 Chem 105 Chem 106 Plant Biology Animal Biology General Biology Basic Chemistry Fundamental Chemistry Fundamental Chemistry NSCI NSCI NSCI NSCI NSCI NSCI 5 5 5 5 5 5 *Check individual major requirements when choosing your math and science classes For more information, contact: Sue Kissinger, Coordinator of Advising and Recruitment College of Natural Resources University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point Stevens Point, WI 54481.
