You may apply online at https://apply.wisconsin.edu/ Request that your official transcripts be forwarded directly to the UWSP Admissions Office both from your high school and from any colleges or universities you have attended. List your intended major on your application form. While there is no deadline for applying to the University, early application is recommended because enrollment management efforts may require us to limit our enrollment. General Admission Requirements to the University Students from the UW Colleges who will have earned 54 or more credits by the time they transfer to UWSP are eligible for admission with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. If you will have earned fewer than 54 transfer credits by the time you transfer, you will need to meet the admission requirements in effect at the time your application file is complete. Please note that admission to the University does not guarantee admission to a particular major. When Should You Transfer? Students from the UW Colleges interested in the Communicative Disorders major at UWSP may remain at the UW Colleges campus and earn an Associate Degree prior to transferring. As part of your Associate Degree, you may complete courses toward the UWSP General Education Program requirements and the Communicative Disorders Major. Requirements for Admission to and Maintenance of the Communicative Disorders Major If you have freshman or sophomore status (1-59 credits at the time of transfer), you will be accepted as a Communicative Disorders major if your overall grade point average is 2.0 or higher. If you have junior or senior status (60 credits or higher at the time of transfer) you will be accepted as Communicative Disorders major if your overall grade point average is 2.75 or higher. You must maintain an overall GPA of 2.75, and an in-major GPA of 3.0, as you progress through the upper division classes (300 and 400 level) in the Communicative Disorders major. UWSP GENERAL EDUCATION PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS Students with Communicative Disorders majors should complete the General Education Program (GEP) Requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree. The GEP for the Bachelor of Science Degree is listed below along with courses from the UW Colleges that may be applied toward the requirements. Biology, 5 credits: 101 or 160 4. Chemistry, 3 or 5 credits: 100 or 101 5. Psychology, 13 credits: 110, 260 or Human Development 265, Psychology 325, Math 355 or Psychology 300 (if math requirement has been met) 6. Additional collateral courses, 6 credits: One course from: Communication 382, 385; Human Development 360, 363, 364; Philosophy 302; Political Science 306; Psychology 315, 375, 385; Sociology 224, 310, 366, 467. One course from Psychology 330 or 331 The following requirements must be met for the Communicative Disorders major leading to teacher certification. Coursework leading to teacher certification allows undergraduate students with opportunities to explore issues pertaining to typical and atypical language learners, culturally diverse populations, and individuals with a variety of communicative disorders. Through their academic and clinical training, students also gain a greater appreciation for communication disorders and their future role in improving functional communication for diverse groups of children and their families. For admission to the Professional Education Program, the student must have completed all 200-level course work in communicative disorders and have an overall GPA of 2.75 (including transfer credits) and an in-major GPA of 3.00. Course work consists of all the major requirements listed above, plus the following: 1.
