To Begin: Hit the “create and account” and click on the “REGISTER” button! SSO is single source payer
option. We are paying by the person and are not offering a single source user name. So as a new
person to the site… click on the “REGISTER” button. Upon having registered you will use this username
and password to get back to your tests whenever you want or need. Make the Username unique! If you
have a somewhat common name and use that as a username, that name may already be in the system
and you may not get in (unless your password is exactly the same… how weird would that be?)
Remember this system is used by thousands of people not just UWSP.
When you have hit register for the first time, you will be brought to this screen. Type in “University” and
several options will pop up. You can either scroll down the list to find “University of Wisconsin-Stevens
Point” or type the whole thing into the box.
Click “Continue to Step 2
Fill in the boxes; use your school/university address. Click “Continue to Step 3”
Enter a Username and password; verify the password and answer security questions. Remember make
the username unique! Click “Continue to Step 4”
Answer all the questions on the next screen and click “Continue to Step 5”
Step 5 seems to trip a lot of people up. Continuing Education credit option; click “NO” then go to the
bottom, answer the survey participation question and click “Continue to step 6”.
You will answer the “language preference”, “Gender”, “Department” and “Role in research.” I think
how you answer this question is important because I think this may also determine what type of
questions you get. For instance; as an Instructor working in a lab… click on “Lab Research Staff.” If you
are the primary researcher in a project, click on “Principal Investigator.” If you are an undergraduate
student click “Student researcher – undergraduate” or “Research assistant.”
Click on the boxes “Not at this time” for questions 1-5. For question 6, (shown as question 5 on the
print screen view above) which is at the bottom, click on the most appropriate applications for you.
Primary and co-researchers will click on the appropriate species category in “All PI’s and students…”
boxes as well as the “All Principal investigators” box. Student assistants or those working as animal
caregivers will select one or more of the “I work with…” boxes depending on the species that will be
handled. Click “Complete Registration.” Your list of courses will appear. As you complete modules
within each course you will receive % towards completion notifications. You may log off and back in at
any time to resume a course at your convenience. When you have completed the courses chosen for
you, CITI will send the IACUC Chair and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs a completion
notification. Every three years a required refresher course is offered to keep you updated on the latest
regulations and other changes made during the past three years as well as refresh your memory on
important points in animal welfare.
