Farm News Ag Show to address marketing issues
Post harvest marketing will be the main topic of discussion at the sixth annual
Farm News Ag Show to be held Dec. 6-7 in Fort Dodge.
The agricultural show will include nearly 70 exhibitors from Iowa and surrounding
states and will showcase the latest technology in grain and livestock products as
well as ag services, seed varieties and farm toys.
Ed Kordick, director of market education and information for the Iowa Farm
Bureau Federation, along with Kelvin Leibold, an Iowa State University
Extension farm management specialist, will discuss post harvest marketing
and strategies. Leibold will also give a second presentation on managing risk in
dealing with high rent and volatile markets. Both presentations will be made on
Dec. 6.
NEW Cooperative employees Terry Panbecker, Ben Rahe and Larry Eekhoff, will
take a look at using technology and data for economical and efficient applications
of seed, fertilizer and chemicals. They will make their presentation on Dec. 7
from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Hoon Ge, fuel consultant and technical contractor for the National Biodiesel
Board, will give an overview of biodiesel and its fuel properties. Ge will take a
look at proper biodiesel blending and handling procedures, troubleshooting and
the benefits of biodiesel in 2007 engines. Ge will make his presentation from
12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Dec. 7.
“We are very excited about the upcoming Farm News Ag Show,” said Kelli
Bloomquist, Farm News news editor. “A number of experts will be in attendance
and speaking on issues that are important to area farmers.”
The annual Farm News Ag Show will be held at the Career Education Building on
the Iowa Central Community College campus in Fort Dodge.
The event is free to the public. Those attending the show will also have the
opportunity to win a new 100 H (V80) SAR Corn Burning Furnace with
professional installation included provided by Donelson Distributing and Farm
News.
A free breakfast will be available to the first 600 guests on Dec. 7. The breakfast
will be catered by Chris Cakes and is sponsored by Hagie Manufacturing in
Clarion.
The Webster County Pork and Beef Producers will serve lunch with the help of
the Fort Dodge Area Chamber of Commerce Ag Relations Task Force and
agriculture students from Iowa Central Community College.
