Agri News, MN 02-27-07 Iowa news and notes Workshop to discuss kura clover March 8 AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and the Integrated Farm/Livestock Management Demonstration Program are funding a large on-farm demonstration project in northeast Iowa to educate growers about kura clover living mulch systems for grain crop production. A one-day workshop will be held on this topic at 9:30 a.m. March 8 at the Seed Science Center auditorium at Iowa State University. Blazing a New Trail to look at organic farming CRESCO, Iowa -- A March 24 conference titled "Blazing a New Trail Part 2'' will be held March 24 from 9 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. in the NICC Cresco Center in Cresco. Local farmers and staff will talk about flaming, organic dairy, vegetables, livestock, carbon credits, economics, and transitioning to organic farming. ISU Extension climatologist Elwynn Taylor will explain the changing climate over the past half century and what it teaches about the next 50 years, and Kathleen Delate will talk about her research on cover crops. Town N' Country Breakfast set in Osage OSAGE, Iowa -- Mike Duffy, Iowa State University ag economist, will discuss the impact of ethanol on rural communities at the Town N' Country Breakfast sponsored by the ag committee of the Osage Chamber of Commerce.
