Iowa Lawmaker Calls For Tuition Freeze For Freshmen
Measure Covers Iowa's 3 Public Universities
DES MOINES, Iowa -- A Creston senator announced Thursday that he's
introducing a bill that promises incoming freshmen at Iowa's public universities
that they will never see a tuition increase while they are students at the school.
Republican Sen. Jeff Angelo's bill would freeze a freshman's tuition so that it
stays the same rate throughout the student’s college career at the University of
Iowa, University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University.
Angelo said in a statement that his bill would help remove the uncertainty caused
by tuition increases on the family budget while students are attending classes.
