Course Description:

In Math 1060, we study trigonometric functions, their inverses, and equations and identities of these functions, with applications.

Prerequisites: Math ACT score of 23 or grade of C or better in MATH 1010.

How to Get Help:

• WeBWorks Feedback: Use the “Feedback” button at the bottom of any particular problem to send me questions directly about that problem.

I will not answer any questions received within 24 hours of the closing date of a problem set.

• Tutoring: The T. Benny Rushing Mathematics Center offers free tutoring Monday-

Thursday 8 am-8 pm and Friday 8 am-6 pm.

• Technical Difficulties: If you encounter technical or administrative difficulties with

WeBWorks, such as not being able to log-in, forgetting your password, or if problem pages fail to load correctly, you may email our WeBWorks administrator, Hsiang-Ping

Huang, directly at hphuang@math.utah.edu.

Grades and Exams:

(30%) Midterms: There will be 2 midterms over the course of the semester. Exam I is June

20/21 and will cover material from chapter 4 of the text. Exam II is July 11/12 and will cover material from chapter 5 of the text. Midterms will be held at the regular class time and in our regular classroom, and will be 60 minutes long.

We will resume lecture immediately after the exam.

Graphing calculators will not be allowed on any of the exams and there may be exams or portions thereof where no calculators at all are allowed.

(40%) Homework: Assignments are online in the WeBWorks system. You should have received an email with your username and initial password. The demo and assignments 1-3 are there to help you familiarize yourself with the system and brush up on prerequisite material that we will not be covering in class, but these assignments are not required and not for credit!

However, I strongly recommend attempting them.

(30%) Final Exam: The final exam day and time is TBA. Half of the exam will be cumulative, and half will be dedicated to material in chapter 6.
