CHM 105 Homework:

CHM 105 Homework: A list of suggested homework problems from your textbook is provided below. This homework is not graded, but it is not surprising that
doing homework usually improves quiz/test/exam scores.
Note that in our textbook the chapter number always precedes the problem number. So Problem 1.3 is problem 3 in chapter 1. The list below gives the chapter number in
the first column and four lists of problems in the other columns. The answers for all the study checks and the odd numbered problems are at the end of each chapter.
Concept Checks: As you read each chapter, read each suggested Concept Check and its answer.
Sample Problems and Study Checks: As you read each chapter, read each suggested sample problem and its answer. Then try working the Study Check.
In-Chapter Questions and Problems: When you reach the end of each section of a chapter, you will find a group of “Questions and Problems”. Work the assigned
problems to reinforce your understanding of this material before going on to read the next section of the chapter.
End-of-Chapter Questions and Problems: When you finish reading an entire chapter, work the assigned “Understanding the Concepts”, “Additional Questions and
Problems” and “Challenge Questions” found at the end of each chapter. (Sooner is better. While the chapter is still fresh on your mind.) I especially want to
encourage you to work the “Understanding the Concepts” questions to help you to visualize the topics.
Additional Practice: Most chapters of your textbook have many good questions and the previous three homework categories have a representative sample of these
problems. This category lists more, good in-chapter and end-of-chapter questions for additional practice. If any of the homework questions give you trouble,
then you should look among the questions in this category for related questions to work.

As you read the text you should also note that each numbered figure has a related question. These make good review questions when reading the chapter and when
studying for quizzes or tests. (Example: Figure 1.14, p37)
