LITERACY COUNCIL OF WEST ALABAMA HOSTS LOCAL STUDENTS AT
SHELTON STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Tuscaloosa, Alabama – On February 17, the Literacy Council of West Alabama hosted local high
school students at Shelton State Community College’s Bean-Brown Theatre. As part of The
Author’s Edge event, the Literacy Council sponsored tickets for 400 students from eleven West
Alabama high schools to attend Theatre Tuscaloosa’s production of The Glass Menagerie.
Following the performance, students participated in a talk-back opportunity with the cast of The
Glass Menagerie, enjoyed lunch on the Martin Campus of Shelton State, and were given
individual copies of John Green’s book, The Fault in our Stars.
The Literacy Council extends thanks to participating sponsors Mercedes Benz USI, Shelton State
