Mrs. Pack’s Fridge Facts September 29thOctober 3rd Phonics Students will be given a list to study (one that we’ve already done) that they did not do so well on the test. Each child’s list will be different based on their needs. They will need to complete the 3 homework activities on the list and turn it in on Friday before the test. Writing/Grammar: Reading: We have finished our first unit in Reading and our review. Students will complete the Unit 1 assessment on the following comprehension skills: -Identifying characters, setting, and plot. -Identifying the main idea and supporting details. -Identifying features of expository (informational) text. Students should be able to identify and write the following types of sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation: Declarative (telling), Interrogative (asking), Exclamatory (showing a strong feeling or excitement) Imperative (command) Do to our review week and testing in reading we will put a lot of time and effort into our narratives this week. We are sharing wonderful memories in our writing. Habit of the Week: Be Proative (You’re in charge of you.) Math We are wrapping up Topic 3, Subtraction Strategies. Students will complete topic 3 assessment and will begin topic 4, Working with Equal Groups. They will use a legend, or key along with symbols to understand different types of maps. Reminders -Please make sure your child has a jacket or sweatshirt each day as the weather turns cooler. -MAP scores are in. Please let me know if you would like for me to send your child’s scores home. Otherwise scores will be discussed during conference time when report cards go home. -We were excited to meet Loren Long today. He is the author of the Otis book series. Please ask your child about the author visit and what they learned.
