The description is as follows: HIST 3130 History of Human Rights (3) This course explores the development of international human rights as theory and practice. It discusses traditional concepts of sovereignty and national belonging and then looks at two monumental events that created new possibilities for "moral intervention" across international borders: The French Revolution and the birth of the anti-slavery movement in the context of European imperialism. The course also explores the rise of global governance and human rights movements both on the local and the global level.
