Dear Families,

advertisement
Dear Families,
In this folder are all of the vocabulary and spelling words for our Reading
StreetReading textbook. Students take the folder home each night and bring it
back each day.
Each page contains two selections or stories of vocabulary/spelling words.
The top is one week then below the line is the next week. Students will write the
date of the week in which we start that selection/story.
Vocabulary words are on the left hand side. Students should be able to
read these words and know the meaning or definition of the words. The
definitions are in the Reading textbook glossary. The Amazing Words are for oral
vocabulary. Focus on the words listed under vocabulary words. Once your
child knows those inside and out, then use the Amazing Words as a challenge
set. Students will NOT be tested on the Amazing Words.
Spelling words are on the right hand side under the heading Spelling
Words. Students should be able to read these words, know the meaning, AND
spell them. A Spelling test will usually be given on Friday. Students will be
instructed to write the date the test will be given near the spelling words. There
will be NOpretest given in our classroom, however, you are certainly welcome to
do a pretest at home, if you would like.
We will not be starting our reading textbook until the second full week of
school; however, there are spelling words listed below that your child needs to
learn for a Spelling test at the end of the first full week of school.
