System Assembly
Radio
1: Unscrew the antenna.
2: Screw in the BNC connector.
3: Connect a BNC cable that will be used to attach to each antenna.
Dipole
1: Solder the BNC bulkhead connector to the main driver.
2: Solder one end of the 2.2 pF capacitor to the gold inner conductor of the BNC
bulkhead. Solder the other end of the capacitor to the tuning stub.
3: Attach back-nut on BNC bulkhead connector and tighten until secure.
Folded Dipole
1: Take the 4:1 balun and cut off the two fork connectors.
2: Slide the two stripped ends of the balun wires from the bare side of the PCB to the
other side with the trace.
3: Solder the two stripped balun wire ends to the respective ends of the trace.
4: Use the coax to BNC converter for the BNC cable.
5: Add two zip-ties through the holes to hold the 4:1 balun in place.
Yagi
1: Insert bulkhead BNC connectors into pre-drilled holes in PCB and secure.
2: Solder all tabs and pins to the intersecting PCB traces
3: Connect a BNC cable (one quarter wave length long) between the two most distant
BNC connectors as shown in the figure below.
4: (Optional for better results) Add copper tape around the outer conductor of each
bulkhead also shown in the figure below.
Monopole
1: Drill a half inch hole into the center of the ground plane.
2: Insert the BNC bulkhead connector into the ground plane and secure with locking
washer and nut.
3: Attach tabbed end of monopole antenna into male BNC adapter.
4: Secure antenna onto ground plane using the BNC connection.
