KUTZTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA
COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
DEPARTMENT OF: Library Science and Instructional Technology
I. Course Title: ITC 536 Integrating the Internet for Educators 3 s.h; 3.c.h.
II. Course Description:
Students will discuss a variety of Internet options and how to effectively integrate them into the curriculum.
Students will examine the history, theory, communication facilities, and educational activity structures
relevant to the process within a standards based educational setting. The Internet will be the primary
resource examined. Prerequisites: ITC 514 and 525 or permission of the Department
III. Course Rationale:
The Internet is transforming today's classrooms by opening communication beyond the walls of the
classroom and allowing both teacher and student to actively participate within the "global village." No
longer relegated to passive observation, today's schools have the potential to elevate the educational process
to a national as well as international level through access to a plethora of information resources. These
information resources include people as well as data. The telecomputing phenomenon offers enormous
benefits to the trained educator who is prepared with the skills of network navigation and curricular
application.
