Spa 2-A Unit 1
Los animales y la naturaleza Speaking assessment
Choose an animal to talk about in Spanish. Prepare six sentences about the animal to present to the class. You may look at one word per
sentence. Your word must also be visible to the class. Just include it with your picture.
You may (and probably should) include pictures for each of your sentences. Your pictures can be projected, mounted or drawn on a poster board,
or on individual pieces of paper and tacked to the whiteboard. You may choose to draw your pictures, use your own photographs or find pictures on
the Internet (cite your sources at the end.) You should include the following information in your presentation:
1. Identify the animal. Tell its name (if it is a pet) and what it is.
2. Describe what the animal looks like.
3. Identify body parts. Be sure to include parts that are distinctive to that animal (i.e., claws, wings,
etc.).
4. Tell something about the area or habitat where the animal lives or is from originally. Does it live
outside or inside now?
5. Use a verb (or verbs) to talk about something the animal does.
6. Tell what the animal eats.
7. What does the animal enjoy doing? Use your teacher’s help here.

You must present your animal on the day assigned to you.
Give your teacher your script before your presentation.
Let your teacher help you review your script in the days before presentations start.
If you forget your pictures you must write your words on the board and present anyway.
If you choose to use technology to do your presentation you must be prepared to load it before class begins.
If you choose to draw pictures they must be prepared before class and posted by the time attendance is done.
Points will be deducted for English used in your presentation.
Write the sentences yourself. Do not rely on translators. Points will be deducted for sentences obviously translated
by a computer. You must know what your sentences mean and your classmates should also understand them.
 Your grade will be determined by the amount of preparation you choose to do. 20/20 50/50 100/100
 See the scoring guide to determine the grade you want to work for.
