Off-Campus Study Award
Overview
When the Carrie Babb Scholarship endowment contains unexpended funds following the
awarding of scholarships, the Department of Geography, at its discretion, will publicize
Carrie Babb Award(s) for KU sponsored off-campus study including courses run by the
PASSHE Marine Science Consortium (MSC). Award amounts will be modest and variable.
General Criteria
To be eligible for a Carrie Babb Off-Campus Study Award, the applicant must:
1) be a current Geography or BS Environmental Science/Geography major in good
academic standing,
2) provide proof that the course carries KU credits, and
3) complete the application form on the reverse side of this document.
Essay
As part of a complete Carrie Babb Off-Campus Study Award application, the student is
required to write a one page essay on how the proposed off-campus course will enhance
his/her major studies.
Application Evaluation
Applications will be evaluated by the faculty of the Department of Geography and
reviewed on an “as received” basis. Applications will be accepted and reviewed as long
as Off-Campus Study Awards are available.
