Edinboro University School of Business Mentoring Program Student Commitment Form Your Commitment Your commitment to the Student Mentoring Program begins when you are matched with a mentor in August for the following academic year. Your conduct as an Edinboro University student is held to a high professional standard and we expect each student to commit to the program to the best of his or her ability unless extenuating circumstances arise. Your Responsibilities As a representative of Edinboro University and the School of Business, a certain level of accountability is required of you throughout the mentoring experience. The relationship between a mentor and the student is built on a foundation of trust, respect, and professionalism. • • • • • • • • Respect the mentor’s time by keeping appointments, communicating if you cannot attend a meeting, and promptly returning calls or emails. Accept mentor advice and feedback while keeping communication open. Set realistic expectations of the mentor. Be proactive in keeping the relationship alive and communicate regularly with your mentor. Take the initiative to plan meetings, activities, and agenda topics. Maintain confidentiality and trust if the mentor discusses sensitive information. Follow-up on recommendations/contacts that the mentor provides in a timely manner. Be fully present and engaged—take the program seriously. If for extenuating circumstances or personal reasons you cannot participate in the mentor program, communicate that to your mentor and the Office of the Dean, School of Business. Do not simply withdraw from the program without telling anyone.
