When completing the FAFSA,
you will use your 2010 federal
tax return. If you have not completed your federal taxes before
filing the FAFSA, you can still
submit your application using
best estimates. After your taxes
have been completed, you should
correct any income or tax information that is different from
what you initially submitted on
your FAFSA.
File your FAFSA Online in 4 Easy
Steps.
1.
Print the FAFSA on the
Web Worksheet at
www.fafsa.gov. Use this
form to get all of the necessary information together so
your time on the computer
is minimized.
2.
Submit your FAFSA
online at www.fafsa.gov
as soon as possible.
When you submit your
FAFSA online and use PINs
to sign it, your application
will be processed within 72
hours. If you or your parent need to apply for a PIN
or don’t remember your
PIN, you can receive your
PIN in “real-time” at
www.pin.ed.gov.
3.
Print your Student Aid
Report . Once your FAFSA is processed, you will
receive an email with a link
to your Student Aid Report.
If you do not provide an
email address or the email is
undeliverable, a paper Student Aid Report will be
mailed to you. If you do not
receive your Student Aid
Report, your FAFSA has not
been processed.
4.
Update your FAFSA
online at www.fafsa.gov
after you and your parents
have filed your taxes. You
will receive emails from the
Department of Education.

ACG/SMART Update
The last award year the Department of Education will fund the
ACG and SMART Grant programs will be 2010 - 2011. Students receiving ACG/SMART in
2010-2011 will not be grandfathered in to receive any ACG/
SMART after 2010-2011. Therefore, it is very important for
students who may have had remaining eligibility after 2010-2011
to realize they will no longer
have this aid resource after the
2010-2011 academic year. Please
contact our office at 812-8778259 if you have any questions or
concerns regarding this aid program.
We want to keep you informed. The Financial Aid
Office will be producing a
newsletter for each term.
Watch for the Spring Newsletter in March.

domestic service corps program which allows students to
earn educational and living
expenses for college. You do
not need to have workstudy to
participate in this program.
You can earn between
$1,132.00 and $2,038.00 in
Educational Awards and
$3,123.00 and $4,685.00 for

Positions are available in the
AmeriCorps Sycamore Service
Corps for 2010—2011. AmeriCorps is similar to the Peace

AmeriCorps offers several
opportunities for interested
Rose-Hulman students to become involved in part-time
local community service.

How do I find my Loan History?
Obstacles are
those things you
see when you take
your eyes off the
goal!
The Department of Education
has a website called the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). NSLDS provides a centralized, integrated
view of Title IV (federal) loans
and grants that are tracked
through their entire cycle. It
displays information on loan
amounts, outstanding balances,
loan statues and disbursements. The log-in for the
NSLDS site requires your social security number, the first
two letters of your last name,
your data of birth and your
FAFSA PIN. Once you are in
your account, you will be able
to view each of your federal
student loans individually. You
can see information regarding
the original loan amount, outstanding balance, interest rate,
lender, servicer and guarantor.
This is the best way to determine how much you have borrowed in federal loans, and
who you will need to contact
regarding repayment.
The website address is:
