A platoon from the Multi-national Interim Force reported engaging a vehicle that ran through a
vehicle checkpoint near the intersection of La Martiniere and Martin Luther King Avenues in
Port-au-Prince last night at 10:36 p.m. U.S. Marines fired to disable and stop the vehicle.
One occupant of the vehicle was wounded in the head, and the other was wounded in the
abdomen. Neither of the wounds were life threatening. No Marines were injured. U.S.
Marines provided first aid to the occupants. Haitian National Police (HNP) were notified and
responded to the scene. The individuals were turned over to the HNP. A pistol and three
magazines of ammunition were recovered from the vehicle.
