Activities of March 2013:
1. Title of the Programme : Development of Framework and Syllabi for PG Diploma Course in
Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics Education
Programme Coordinator : Dr. R. K. Parashar
The main objective of this three days workshop was to develop a framework and syllabi for
PG diploma course in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics Education. Draft has
been developed. The development meeting was held in Department of Education in Science
and Mathematics from 20-22 March, 2013 in which 12 experts and 8 DESM & NCERT
Faculty members were involved.
2. Title of the Programme : Development of Training Package in Science and Mathematics for
the In-service Teachers Professional Development (ITPD) at Secondary Stage
Programme Coordinator : Dr. Alka Mehrotra
The workshop was held at DESM from 18 to 21 March 2013 in which 10 experts and 9
DESM faculty members were involved. The main purpose of this workshop was “to edit draft
manuscript of the training package in science and mathematics for in-service teachers training
at secondary stage”. It is expected that training based on training package will help in
improving the transaction strategies and bring about improvement in teaching-learning
process.
3. Title of the Programme: Orientation of Master Trainers in Science at the Upper Primary and
Secondary Stage.
Programme Coordinator : Mr.R.R.Koireng
A five days training programme on “Orientation of Master Trainers in Science at the Upper
Primary and Secondary Stage” was held at NIE, NCERT New Delhi from 11-15 March,
2013.Thirteen teachers from KVS, Delhi govt. school and Public school were oriented in
science at the Upper Primary and Secondary stage on the new syllabi, textbooks, exemplar
problems and laboratory manual in the light of NCF 2005.The master trainers were also
provided opportunities to explore new activities/projects/exercises/experiments etc.
4. Title of the Programme : Study of Curriculum at Higher Secondary Stage in Biology,
Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics
Programme Coordinator : Dr. C. V. Shimray
The main objective of this workshop was to review the draft analysis of the study.
Suggestions were also obtained and some will be incorporated in the report as and when
modified. The final report would be utilized by different stakeholders in the preparation of
curricular material. During the four days workshop (15-18March, 2013) 3 experts and 1
DESM faculty members were involved.
5. Title of the Programme : Development of Course Contents for Certificate Programme for
Teaching of Elementary School Science (CTES)
Programme Coordinator : Dr. Anjni Koul
A content review workshop for CTES was held from 11 to 16 March, 2013 in the Math Lab of
the NCERT. The purpose of the workshop was to review the CTES contents developed so far.
Authors, designers and reviewers were participated in the workshop. The work done so far
was presented in front of the group and suggestions/feedback taken for further improvement.
There were two presentations by instructional designers to describe requirements of design
from a design perspective, to help authors view their content from that angle as well. The
workshop was also visited by the Director, NCERT, and two faculty members from CIET.
The CIET faculty discussed with the group how the contents prepared under CTES could be
helped by technology inputs from CIET. 10 External experts and 7 NCERT, DESM faculty
were involved in the workshop.
