state of Oregon. Opportunities for
general education are distributed as
widely as possible throughout the state,
with specialized, professional, and
technical programs centered at specific

Members
The Oregon University System is
governed by the Oregon State Board of
Higher Education, whose members are
appointed by the governor with
confirmation by the state senate. Terms
are four years for regular members and
two years for student members. Terms
