This choice will open the door to a magnitude of unique opportunities for growth, leadership and social engagement. Since you will spend approximately 80% of your time outside of the classroom, your membership in this community will strongly affect the quality of your time at KU. » Honors students have an opportunity to live in on campus housing that is specifically for students in the Honors program. First year students are invited to live in traditional hall, while upperclassmen have an option to reside in apartment-style living at the Honors Building. All Honors students must be referred by the Honors office to the Housing, Residence Life and Dining Services for assignment consideration. » Students who live on-campus have the support and resources provided by a dynamic staff of students and professionals who make up the Housing and Residence Life team » A traditional residence hall provides all the amenities of a standard double room, including high-speed internet/cable TV connection and a shared land-line phone connection. » Community Assistants coordinate social and interactive events, as well as programs to enhance the academic and cultural experience. » The Honors Building houses 12 furnished apartments (two double-occupancy bedrooms) on the second floor, and the Honors office, classrooms, study, and lounge space on the first floor. » Each residence hall has a Hall Council, which is comprised of volunteer leaders. By participating students gain valuable skills and experience, learn how to plan events and fund raisers, and serve as governing body for the residential community. » Workshops, lectures, activities and opportunities to engage with faculty in an informal setting will be offered to freshmen entering the Honors Program on a regularly scheduled basis. These events will be sponsored by Housing and Residence Life in conjunction with the Honors Program. “As a faculty member, I hold my Honors students to a higher standard by which they aggressively pursue their education with a sense of entitlement.” –Dr. Eric Johnson Schuylkill Hall Honors BUilding
