Application Procedure
1. Read the requirements for the scholarship (Application Information and Guidelines).
2. File a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), preferably online.
3. Complete the application above and the items on page 2 of this document.
4. Enclose the following documents with this completed application:
a. If you are not a current STLCC student:
i. Official high school transcript(s) or any college transcript(s) or verification that student has requested
documentation from issuing institution.
ii. ACT scores or other comparable placement scores.
b. Two (2) letters of recommendation: one from a mathematics or science teacher and one from another teacher or
counselor.
c. Proof of current STLCC student status or a completed STLCC student application.
d. A doubled-spaced, typed, two-page essay written by the student describing the motivation for applying for
this scholarship. The student should cite additional indicators of academic merit and professional success
such as class rank, motivation skills, ability to manage time and resources, communication skills, and
leadership skills. Include any Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses taken in high school, as well as
engineering or science-related competitions (such as U.S. FIRST Robotics Competition) participated in
during high school.
e. All required documents above must be submitted with this application in a single 9”x12” envelope to:

Applications will be reviewed on a continual basis as received.
A personal interview with the S3 Academy Student Selection Committee will be conducted for all eligible applicants.
The STLCC-FV Financial Aid Office will determine your financial need based on your designated Cost of
Attendance and expected family contribution (as determined by the FAFSA report). The total amount of
financial aid you receive cannot exceed this determined financial need.
