Dear Student
Welcome to North Bromsgrove's Guided Pathways process, designed to help you choose your
option subjects for years 10 and 11.
Accompanying this letter you will find our Guided Pathways booklet, containing information about
the courses we offer and the key dates you will need to observe. Please read this information
carefully with your parent(s)/carer(s), to help you make the best choices to suit your own needs and
interests. This booklet has been given to you at the same time as your report for a reason: to allow
you to use the information teachers have given about your progress to support your decision making.
As you will see from the booklet, we offer three routes based on specific criteria. You have been
placed into the Open Pathway. The subjects available to you are on the reverse of this letter and
in the booklet.
Please read the other side of this letter carefully before completing and returning it to your tutor
before the deadline stated. We also offer you the opportunity to switch colleges at this point to be
part of a college that might be more closely linked to the option choices you have made. Further
information about the college system can be found in the booklet.
Whilst we will do our absolute best to try and accommodate your preferences in terms of subjects
and college, due to fluctuations in demand and staffing capacity we may not always be able to give
you all of your first choices. To this end we also ask you to choose reserve subjects and a reserve
college.
More detailed information will be provided during the Guided Pathways Evening on Tuesday 26
January and senior staff will be on hand to answer any queries you might have. Alternatively, please
