This program guide includes GLBTQ related programming sponsored or supported by the GLBTQ Resource Center,
the KU student group Allies, the Association of Campus Events (ACE), Multicultural Center, Women’s Center,
Communications Studies, Housing, Residence Life and Dining Services, Off Campus Advisory Council
and members of the Kutztown University community.

The 2nd Annual Pride Parade
Come show your support by joining us for a KU Pride Parade. Allies of Kutztown
University will join together with other student organizations to showcase all that we are
proud of.
National Coming Out Day
A daylong event featuring interactive workshops, activities, and displays aimed at
understanding and celebrating the “coming out” process of LGBT individuals. National
Coming Out Day is held annually to celebrate and affirm LGBT individuals who have
“come out.” This is a student led Allies program.

Spirit Day

A time of remembrance for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth who have lost their
lives due to bullying. The color purple in the rainbow flag stands for spirit, so take a stand
against bullying and support lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth by wearing purple.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (Allies)
A day to remember individuals killed and bullied due to anti-transgender prejudice and
violence. This is a student lead Allies program.

27th Annual World AIDS Day
Daylong educational workshops and displays create awareness of HIV and AIDS issues.
HIV and AIDS is a global health issue that affects individuals on every continent, and of
every gender, race, sexual orientation and economic class. World AIDS Day began in 1988
as a worldwide awareness effort to unite people in the fight against HIV and AIDS, support
those affected by HIV and AIDS, and remember those who have lost their individual fight
against this devastating disease.

Lavender Grads
A graduation celebration for members of the student group Allies, Lambda Delta Xi and
supporters of the KU LGBTQ community. Everyone is welcome.

Equality Social
Come and celebrate equality in all forms with the KU student group Allies of Kutztown
University and other student groups. The event is full of fun activities and games that help
increase awareness about discrimination and diversity. The event also provides students
from all types of communities a safe space free of gender stereotypes and heteronormative
behavior constructs. Food and snacks are provided.
Monday, March 14 through Diversity Awareness Week
Mark your calendars for a week of diversity and inclusion awareness. The Diversity

Awareness Week will feature student organizations and groups focusing on various topics of
diversity each day of the week. Topics will include LGBTQ issues, women’s and gender
issues, multicultural topics, religion and faith, disabilities, and so much more! The week will
end with a presentation and discussion on intersectionality and how all diverse communities
are connected to one another.

A founder of Black Lives Matter, Alicia Garza leads a discussion on race in
America, activism, violence, police brutality, social injustice and justice for all.

Allies Drag Show

Allies of Kutztown University will be holding its 10th annual Drag Show which features
both professional and student performers for a night of enjoyment. All donations collected
from the event benefit charitable LGBTQ focused organizations such as TransCentralPA,
Trevor Project, and The Pennsylvania Youth Congress.
