CONWAY (PhD Wildlife Science 2001) received Educator of the Year Award at the 40th Annual Meeting of the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society held in Amarillo, Texas. CLINT SAUNDERS (BS Agricultural Communications 2000, MS Agricultural Education 2002) is the manager of Information and Publications with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. DR. LANCE VERMEIRE (PhD Range Science 2002) was awarded a 2005 SRM Outstanding Young Range Professional Award. Vermeire is a rangeland scientist at the UDSA-ARS Fort Keogh Livestock and Range Research Laboratory located near Miles City, MT. MANDY GUNDLACH (BS Animal Science 2002) placed second at the ABA Law Student Division Negotiation Competition. Twenty-four teams competed in the event held in Salt Lake City, Utah in February 2005. Mandy is a second year Texas Tech law student. RYAN OLIPHINT (BS Animal Science 2003) is finishing his masters at Texas A&M in Physiology of Reproduction. THERESA (KOEHLER) SMITH (BS Animal Science 1999) works for the Texas Animal Health Commission, recently promoted to the National Animal ID Team Leader. She is married to Richard Smith and has two daughters, Amanda and Elizabeth. CHAD DAVIS (BLA Landscape Architecture 1994) was recently promoted to the Corporate Associate status within the firm of Parkhill, Smith and Cooper in Lubbock. His more visible projects in Lubbock is his work in the Overton Park redevelopment project designing streetscape and public spaces to create a quality pedestrian environment. DR. CHAD S. BOYD (BS Wildlife Management 1990) was awarded a 2005 SRM Outstanding Young Range Professional Award. MASTERS (PhD Range Science 1985) was awarded the 2005 Outstanding Achievement Award for Research. Masters is a research scientist with Dow AgroSciences, LLC at Lincoln, NE. RICHARD DIANO (BS Park Administration 1984) works for Arlington Parks and Recreation maintaining sports fields. He is married and has one son. GLENN LUBKE (BS Agricultural Education 1982; MS Agriculture 1989) is a District Conservationist with the NRCS in North Central Texas. He lives in Terrell, TX. KENT FERGUSON (BS Range Science 1977) works for NRCS, as a Range Management Specialist. ROY CANTRELL (BS Soil Science 1976) is the Vice President for Research with Cotton, Inc., in Raleigh, N.C. DR. STEVEN G. WHISENANT (BS Wildlife Management 1975) was recently appointed professor and chair of the Department of Rangeland Ecology and Management at Texas A&M University. DR. LARRY D. BUTLER (BS Wildlife Management 1974) was awarded the 2005 SRM Outstanding Achievement Award for Stewardship. Butler is the State Conservationist for the Natural Resource Conservation Service in Texas. BENNY PRYOR (BS Agricultural Education 1952) taught agriculture for 39 years in Friona before retiring. He now lives in Lubbock. JERRY BENNETT (BS Agronomy 1974; MS Crop Physiology 1976) is chairman of the Department of Agronomy at the University of Florida in Gainesville. FLOYD CRUME (BS Agricultural Economics 1950) started with the SCS and went into Construction Business in New Mexico. He presently has a farming operation in Hockley County. TOM SCARBOROUGH (BS Horticulture & Landscape 1950) is owner of Tom’s Tree Place in Lubbock. JOHN CONNER (BS Agronomy 1970; MS Crop Physiology 1971) is owner and operator of Conner Partners in Temple, TX. HOMER E. JONES (BS Agricultural Education 1948) taught Vocational Agriculture for 35 years at Wellman, Texas. He retired in 1983 and moved to Lubbock in 2000. DR. SUSIE BULLOCK (BS Agricultural Education 1974, PhD Agricultural Education 2004), Executive Director of the Cooperative Communicators Association, won the Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Association for Communications Excellence (ACE) in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences. CHARLES L. JONES (BS Dairy Management 1947) received his MS in 1948 from The Ohio State University and received his MBA from West Texas A&M University in 1957. He was the Assistant Plant Manager for Bordens, taught jet mechanics for the Airforce and taught physics and chemistry in Amarillo. He retired in 1985. He was in the US Navy—3 years of active duty and 27 years as an active reserve. DR. J. DANIEL RODGERS (MS Range Management 1966) was awarded the 2005 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award by the Range Science Education Council and the SRM. Rodgers is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Wyoming. THELBERT MILLER (BS Animal Husbandry 1946) is retired and lives in Lubbock. He is married to Sue and has 4 children, 7 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They are still enjoying life! RODNEY D. COLLIER (BS Agricultural Economics 1961) received the Distinguished Service Award at the 32nd Annual Bankers Agricultural Credit Conference. He took over as president of American State Bank in 1974, a title that he still holds today.
