About the SECC
The State Employee Charitable Campaign is the only statutorily authorized workplace campaign for state agency and higher education employees throughout Texas. In 2010, the SECC marked its 17th year by
raising more than $9.856 million for charitable organizations throughout the state, nation and world.

2010 Highlights & Accomplishments
• The former Lubbock Area SECC raised $825,717 and West Central
Texas SECC raised $131,797 for a combined total of $957,514!
• 4,608 state employees gave to the charity of their choice.
• In July, over 50 people attended the first ever Lubbock area SECC
charity tour. They visited the Children’s Advocacy Center, Ronald McDonald House, South Plains Food Bank, Early Learning Center, and
Boys & Girls Club.

• Over 27 speakers from local eligible charities participated in the
Speakers’ Bureau, attending 37 meetings and 3 agency fairs.
Campaign Merger
In 2010, the Local Employee Committees of the Lubbock and West Central Texas State Employee Charitable Campaigns (SECC) began looking
for ways to make the campaign more efficient and cost-effective. It was
decided to merge the campaign areas, bringing them under one local
campaign manager. The Permian Basin campaign area, inactive since
2006, was also added to the merger to form the Greater West Texas
SECC. This new campaign is managed by the Lubbock Area United Way
and covers 47 counties.
