ENGL 2351 In ENGL 2351, Introduction to Creative Writing, we have been refining the assessment process itself to help us improve instruction and student learning in this already generally quite successful course. Instructors have refined assessment with more specific rubrics in each assignment. Also, we are improving teacher training and communication and support among the instructors by starting an an email/discussion list for upcoming, current and former instructors, so that they may discuss, compare, and finesse each others' teaching. This is useful because this course is generally taught by second-year doctoral students, and thus there is a continual rotation of instructors. A discussion group of upcoming, current and former instructors helps develop continuity and a broader range of experience to draw from.
