•
Ms. Woods distributed an Institutional Research and Effectiveness Calendar for AY 2013-14 to Council.
The calendar lists all of IR’s mandated reports and is located on the IR Web page at: http://www.wvncc.edu/uploads/zn_IRECalendar2013-2014.pdf

•
Training on DegreeWorks was conducted for staff, financial aid, campus deans, and advisors; however, many did not sign up for training.
•
Templates have been designed for DegreeWorks and developmental requirements are able to be posted on the system, however, the modifications need to be made.

•
Classes will be held the week of Thanksgiving in 2014 and finals will be held on the day classes are actually scheduled.

•
Northern’s Student Union will offer snacks for those watching the Wheeling Christmas Parade. Ms.
Fike will work with Ms. Payton relative to whether or not to close the B&O building during the
time of the parade. Council discussed whether Dean George should be approached about keeping
Barnes & Noble open during that time or just opening the Student Union restrooms for use by the public rather than opening the B&O building for that purpose.
•
Mr. Baller introduced Jerry Wallace, custodial supervisor on the night crew.
•
New employees to the College include: Thomas Vensel, Campus Service Worker—night crew; Paul

Issues have been encountered with the federal/state government regarding ADA compliance and certain areas of sidewalks at the Education Center. Northern is working with the Department of Highways on the issue and a resolution is being sought.
•
Mr. Baller will contact the Department of Highways about getting a sign put up on South Street
(between the maintenance building and Barnes & Noble) to keep people from driving down it the wrong direction.
•
Student ID’s are caught up. ID’s are now electronic, thus allowing for easier access. Anyone noticing incorrect information regarding the campus on which a student is assigned, is to call Ms. Albert to have the information updated in the system.
