Daniel M. Dobkin, Ph.D.
Dr. Dobkin is currently an independent consultant, performing work in a diverse array of
fields including semiconductor component marketing, intellectual property research,
semiconductor process and equipment development, and electromagnetic propagation.
He is the author of a web site and book on chemical vapor deposition; his next book, on
the RF aspects of wireless local area networks (WLANs) will be published by Elsevier in
2004 (if he finishes the manuscript on time).
As a consultant, Dr. Dobkin has performed work for a number of technology companies
including Tropos Networks, Novellus Systems, Qualcomm, Lam Research, WJ
Communications, Watkins-Johnson Company, Gasonics International, OnTrak Systems,
PowerSpectra, and Silicon Video / Candescent. He has testified as an expert witness in
technology-related litigation. Dr. Dobkin has held technology, management, and
marketing positions at Watkins-Johnson Company, WJ Communications, and Sizary Inc.
In 1998 he co-founded TimeDomain CVD Inc., which is currently developing inductive
thermal plasma technology for semiconductor processing.
Dr. Dobkin received a BS in Applied Physics from the California Institute of Technology
in 1976 and MS and PhD from Stanford University in 1979 and 1985 respectively. He is
the author of 25 technical publications and holds 6 US patents as inventor or co-inventor.
When not in his office, Dr. Dobkin and his wife, Nina, are typically found exhausted in
their Sunnyvale home from chasing after Nicholas, 11, and Amelia, 3.
