Chabot College Fall 2005 ` Removed Fall 2010 Course Outline for Welding Technology 68 CERTIFICATION PREPARATION Catalog Description: 68 - Certification Preparation (May be repeated 3 times) 0.5-2 units Welding process preparation for certification exams including the theory of American Welding Society D1.1, American Society of Mechanical Engineers Section IX, American Petroleum Institute 1104, includes laboratory practice in skills needed to take these exams. 1.5 to 6 hours laboratory. [Typical contact hours: laboratory 26.25 - 105] Prerequisite Skills: None Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. 2. 3. 4. select the proper welding code for each type of process; prepare the materials per code specifications for welding; demonstrate proficient welds in two positions for the code selected; complete a certification examination to required standards.
