THEORY & TECHNIQUE OF OFFENSIVE FOOTBALL
Catalog Description:
PHED 25 – Theory & Technique of Offensive Football
2 units
Analysis and examination of various approaches to offensive intercollegiate football. Includes all aspects
of offensive football; punt return, point after touchdown and field goal kicking. The class will meet 2
hours per week. May be repeated two times.
Prerequisite Skills:
None
Expected Outcomes for the Students:
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
1. comprehend and appreciate intercollegiate football;
2. identify and analyze the opponent's offense;
3. understand the kicking game philosophies;

A. Offense
1. Purpose of Offensive Football.
a. Running offense
b. Passing offense
2. Offensive Alignments.
a. Offensive line
b. Offensive back
c. Offensive ends
3. Techniques for each offensive position on each offensive play.
4. Strategy against various defensive philosophies.
5. Offensive strategy through:
a. scouting reports;
b. film study;
c. game plan orientation.
6. Objectives and goals in attacking defensive teams.
