Chabot College Fall 2002 Course Outline for Physical Education 2 GOLF RANGE MANAGEMENT Catalog Description: PHED 2GRM – Golf Range Management 1 unit This course is designed for the beginning student. This class is emphasis on short game and long game. First class meets at Monarch Bay. The class will meet 3 hours per week. Prerequisite Skills: None Expected Outcomes for the Students: This course is designed for the beginning student and held at San Leandro – Mornarch Bay Golf Complex. This class emphasis on short game and long game. Students must provide own clubs, transportation, and purchase range tokens or discount range cards. First class meets at Monarch Bay. Course Content: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. History of golf. Description and use of clubs. Golf etiquette. The grip. Proper stance and variations. Fundamentals of the complete swing. Putting. Knowledge of golf rules. Golf terms and definitions. Scoring and handicapping. 11. Safety factors - range. Methods of Presentation: The course is presented by the lecture-demonstration method. Instruction will be given to the whole class and on an individual basis, according to the need of the student. All students will follow the same class procedure under the direction of the instructor.
