Chabot College Fall 2004 Course Outline for Physical Education 2 CARDIO BLAST Catalog Description: PHED 2CB – Cardio Blast 1 unit Cardio Blast is an intermediate conditioning class that emphasizes cardiovascular endurance activities using both step aerobics and regular aerobics that stimulate heart and lung activity. One of the main objectives of cardio blast is to increase cardiovascular endurance by raising the amount of oxygen the body can process through vigorous exercise movements. 3 hours per week. Prerequisite Skills: None Expected Outcomes for the Students: Upon completion of the course the student will be able to: 1. Improve the amount of time required to recover from a bout of exercise. 2. Improve the strength and efficiency of the heart muscle. Course Content: 1. Exercises, which provide aerobic fitness and lower the resting heart rate. 2. Acquiring knowledge that will enable student to write a cardiovascular exercise program to fit his or her needs. 3. Provide a series of exercises and movements that will promote endurance and efficiency of the cardiovascular system.
