Chabot College Fall 2003 Removed Fall 2006 Course Outline for English 500 COLLEGE READING AND WRITING SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION Catalog Description: 500 – English 0 Units Supplemental reading, writing, and critical thinking experiences intended to develop ability to identify and apply concepts and skills used to read and write college-level prose. Emphasis on developing an in-depth understanding of concepts and assignments in the corresponding co-requisite class. Openentry/open-exit. Co-requisite: 101A, 101B, 102, 1A, 4, 7. Variable hours laboratory. Identify effective sentence, paragraph, and overall idea development in an essay assignment for your primary course. b. Practice variations of sentence patterns and sentence combining. c. Practice written responses to a reading from your primary course to develop an essay. 2. Methods of Evaluating Student Progress a.
