Catalog Description:
40 - Radio Theater
3 units
Performance and production techniques of Radio Theater. Emphasis on vocal characterization,
microphone techniques and script adaptation. Includes results in a total theater production to be
broadcast locally. 3 hours.
Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1. perfect their skills in Radio Theater;
2. learn performance and technical aspects of theater production, including:
a. vocal techniques and characterization
b. microphone techniques
c. script adaptation
d. sound effects and other aspects of radio production, including scoring;
3. prepare original material for radio production.

Multiple voice presentation of prepared script
Beginning vocal characterization to prepare student for Radio Theater
Microphone techniques
Adaptation of literature to multiple voice presentation
Instruction in basic vocal techniques
Studio techniques, including sound effects
Preparation of at least one script (from an already published piece of literature) for a radio
broadcast
8. Group preparation of original scripts for Radio Theater (10-12 minute skits)
9. Final project either as performers, directors, special effects person, etc.
10. Preparation of commercials
