FAMILY VIOLENCE
Fall 2010

Origins of violence in the family from the administration of justice perspective. Specific types of violent interactions and abuse among family members. Emphasis on techniques for use by peace officers to intervene effectively. 2 hours.

Expected Outcomes for Students:
Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1. describe the relationship between patterns of family interaction and violence;
2. name many of the conditions leading to family violence, with emphasis on coping with such situations.
3. recognize many of the indicators for effective intervention in the field.

2. An in-depth look at various forms of violence within the family a. Child abuse
